Georgetown Softball Posts Shutout at Drexel

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (10-15) played to a 3-0 win against Drexel (6-10) in Philadelphia this afternoon. Taylor Koenig (Akron, Ohio/Jesuit Walsh) went two-for-three for the Hoyas.

Megan Hyson (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) hit a double in the top of the third, and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch.

The Hoyas made the score 2-0 in the fourth when Hannah Slovacek (Austin, Texas/Westlake) hit an RBI single to center field to drive in Madeleine Giaquinto (Falls Church, Va./Bishop O'Connell) with the bases loaded. Shikara Lowe (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) hit a sacrifice fly to center field in the seventh, advancing Koenig for the final run of the game.

Hyson pitched the win in seven innings with five strikeouts.

The Hoyas will return to action on Friday at the UMBC Tournament. The first game is slated for 11:25 a.m., against St. Francis (Pa.).
