March 2, 2012

Box Score

WASHINGTON -

Georgetown University softball (7-6) lost 5-0 to Ohio State (11-5) in the opening game of the Citrus Classic Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.

The Buckeyes struck quickly in the first inning, hitting a homerun to drive in two runs.

In the third inning, the Hoyas looked to get back in the game with Alexandria Anttila (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) doubling to get on base, and eventually advancing to third off a single from Elyse Graziano (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy).

At the top of the fourth, Mackensey Carter (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) singled to left field and advanced to second after Hannah Slovacek (Austin, Texas/Westlake) advanced to first on a wild pitch.

Melanie Nichols pitched a five-hit game for the Buckeyes.

The Hoyas will be back in action tomorrow with games against Temple at 4:45 p.m, and Longwood at 7 p.m. Live action from both games will be available on Twitter through @D9events.
