WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's lacrosse team (1-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) will host No. 20 Harvard (2-1, 0-0 Ivy League) at Multi-Sport Field on Saturday afternoon, with the opening face-off scheduled for 1:05 p.m. This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools, with the Hoyas holding a 2-1 edge over the Crimson.
The game will be broadcast live on MASN with Leif Elsmo calling the play-by-play and Evan Washburn providing analysis. A live audio broadcast of Saturday's game will also be available on the Hoyas' official athletics website - www.guhoyas.com - with Chuck Timanus calling the action.
Junior attack Travis Comeau (Red Deer, Alberta[Canada]/The Hill Academy) and the Hoyas will look to build on their 12-7 victory over Detroit Mercy last Saturday. Comeau, after being held scoreless in the Hoyas first game, broke out for a career-high six goals and four groundballs. The preseason All-BIG EAST and Tewaaraton Watch List selection has played well against the Crimson in the team's last two meetings, scoring two goals in each matchup.
Senior midfielder Zack Angel (Park Hall, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) has also been a strong scoring presence for the Hoyas, following up a two-goal performance in the season-opener against Maryland with three goals, all in the fourth quarter, in last Saturday's win over Detroit Mercy. Junior attack Zac Guy (Tully, N.Y./Tully) leads the team with four assists.
Redshirt sophomore Tyler Knarr (Eagleville, Pa./LaSalle College) has emerged as the top face-off option for the Hoyas early on, winning 23-of-33 trips to the face-off X. On defense, junior Patrick Murray (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver ) picked up career-highs with five groundballs and caused three turnovers to earn a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this past week.
Senior goalie Matt Winter (New Haven, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) made the most of his first career start and first regular season game action since 2008, earning a win for the Hoyas against the Titans, while stopping 11 shots.
HARVARD: The Crimson enter Saturday's matchup with a 2-1 record, with its only loss coming to No. 19 Hofstra. Harvard defeated Vermont to open the season and followed with a win over Holy Cross. Senior attack Jeff Cohen leads the Crimson with 10 goals and an assist to lead the team in points, while sophomore attack Daniel Eipp has six goals and three assists for nine points. Harvard defeated Georgetown for the first time in program history last season, winning 16-15, as Cohen scored three goals and Eipp scored twice for the Crimson.Then-sophomore goalie Harry Krieger made 11 saves and allowed 15 goals to earn the victory.
