Hunter and Tarzian Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

WASHINGTON - The No. 15/16 Georgetown University women's lacrosse junior defender Ashley Hunter (Fort Washington, Md./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) and freshman attacker Caroline Tarzian (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) were both named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday after the Hoyas finished the regular season strong. Georgetown (9-7, 5-3 BIG EAST) earned the fourth seed in the BIG EAST Tournament which begins on Thursday evening.

Hunter managed four caused turnovers as well as an assist in a 1-1 week when the Blue & Gray fell to the No. 5/5 University of Maryland, 19-10, but defeated Rutgers University, 9-7. In the victory over Rutgers, she had a key assist which secured a BIG EAST Championship berth for the Hoyas.

Tarzian tallied six points, including five goals and one assist. In the win over Rutgers, she led the team with five points on four goals and one assist. She is currently ranked second overall in scoring with 32 goals and nine assists for 41 points on the season.

Georgetown has had seven BIG EAST Honor Roll awards so far this season along with one BIG EAST Player of the Week honor. It marks Hunter's second honor roll award after earning one on March 19.

Georgetown will open BIG EAST Tournament play on Thursday evening at approximately 8:15 p.m., at the Carrier Dome against top-seeded Syracuse. The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network and live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com. The winner of that game will play in the championship game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
