Georgetown Track & Field Set for NCAA Championships

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown track & field program will send nine student-athletes to compete at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships held in Des Moines, Iowa at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University. The four-day event begins on Wednesday, June 6 and will continue through Saturday, June 9.

The Hoyas will send seven women and two men, totaling nine athletes in six events.

The first event for the Hoyas will be on Wednesday with All-American Chelsea Cox (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) competing in the 800-meter semifinals at 7:30 p.m. ET. Cox will compete in the second of three heats with the top two from each heat advancing to the finals automatically and the next two best marks advancing on time.

London Finley (Los Angeles, Calif./St. Mary's Academy) will also be on the track on Wednesday in the semifinals of the women's 400-meter hurdles. Starting at 9:30 p.m. ET, Finley will compete in the first of three heats, running in lane seven. The top two of each heat plus the next two best times will advance to the finals of the event.

On Friday NCAA Champion and 10-time All-American Emily Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont) and All-American Rachel Schneider (Dover, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas) will take the track in the semifinals of the women's 1,500-meter run, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Infeld will compete in the first of two heats while Schneider will run in the second. The top five from each heat plus the next two best times will advance to the finals.

Also competing on Friday, the women's 4x400-meter semifinal squad of Tenille Stoudenmire (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo), Cox, Finley and All-American Amanda Kimbers (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) will hit the track at 9:25 p.m. ET. The Hoyas will start in lane seven in the second of three heats with the top two schools from each heat plus the next two fastest times advancing to the finals.

On Saturday All-American Madeline Chambers (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat) will compete in the finals of the women's 5,000-meter run at 1:29 p.m. ET.

On the men's side, Mark Denning (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) and Alex Lundy (Littleton, Colo./Heritage/Maryland) will both compete in the finals of the men's 10,000-meter run on Wednesday. The event is the last event on the track on Wednesday and is slated for 9:45 p.m. ET.

Coverage of the championships will be available via NCAA.com and ESPN3.com starting Wednesday, June 6 with live coverage on ESPNU will be available on Saturday, June 9.
