WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's field hockey team hits the road for the second straight weekend, facing off with Liberty and Richmond this Saturday and Sunday. The Hoyas play at Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. on Saturday, September 1 at 1 p.m. and then turnaround and visit Richmond on Sunday, September 2 at 1 p.m.
Last weekend the Hoyas opened their 2012 campaign by splitting games against Appalachian State and Davidson. Senior Annie Wilson (Darien, Conn./Darien) led the way for Georgetown in the 3-2 victory over Appalachian State compiling one goal and an assist. GU was unable to score at Davidson losing 4-0.
Both of Georgetown's opponents enter this weekend with .500 records as well. Liberty opened the year with a 2-1 loss to Saint Joseph's before recording a 1-0 win over Lehigh. Richmond began the year with two top 25 matchups and was victorious versus #25 American, 4-1, before falling 6-1 at #8 the University of Virginia.
