GU Field Hockey Falls 4-1 at Liberty

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's field hockey team (1-2) took on the Liberty Flames (2-1) Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va. and lost 4-1.The Hoyas fell behind 2-0 in the first half before senior Kimberly Keating (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) cut the lead to one with 17 minutes to play, but the Flames extended their lead with two goals in the game's final 10 minutes.

Liberty opened the scoring early netting a goal three minutes into the contest and held a two goal advantage heading into halftime. In the first half Georgetown took five shots compared to Liberty's 15.

After halftime the Hoyas posted their only score as Keating received a crossing pass from senior Annie Wilson (Darien, Conn./Darien) and buried her second goal of the season. Liberty clung to a one goal lead for the next 10 minutes before netting two more to close out the game.

Georgetown goalkeeper Briana Pereira (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) finished the game with 10 saves.

Georgetown travels on to Richmond for a matchup with the Spiders on Sunday, September 2 at 1 p.m.
