Men's Tennis Wins Over Bryant

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's tennis program earned its first home victory of the year defeating Bryant, 4-3. The Hoyas dual match record now stands at 3-6 overall.

The Hoyas started with winning the doubles point by taking two of the three doubles matches. GU's No. 2 squad of Alex Tropiano (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) and Shane Korber (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) earned an 8-2 win which was followed by an 8-5 win at No. 3 by Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Kevin Katz (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset).

After Khanin earned the Hoyas a team point in doubles he then earned GU's second point of day at No. 2 singles, winning a 6-4, 6-2 decision. Bryant responded by winning three straight singles matches at No. 6, No. 1 and No. 3. With the match score sitting at 3-2 in Bryant's favor, Tropiano tied the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at five singles.

In the singles competition it came down to Shane Korber (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) on court four. With the overall match score tied at three all, Korber had to squeeze out a three set match after falling in set one, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-3.

Georgetown stays home for its second of five straight matches at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex, on Tuesday, March 19 against Navy. Match time is 3 p.m.
