Hunter Selected to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

April 29, 2013

WASHINGTON - For the ninth time this season a Georgetown University women's lacrosse player was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. This week senior captain Ashley Hunter (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) was chosen for her defensive prowess in a 1-1 week for the Hoyas. It is the third BIG EAST Honor Roll selection for Hunter in her career, and the first this season.

Hunter led the Hoya defense in a 9-6 win over UConn, holding the Huskies to just two goals over the game's final 43 minutes and limiting the Huskies to 14 shots. Against Syracuse the Hoya defense forced seven second half `Cuse turnovers but it was not enough as GU lost 13-7. The 13 goals were two under SU's season average. For the week Hunter totaled three ground balls, one draw control and three caused turnovers.

On the season Hunter is the Hoya leader in caused turnovers with 17. She is third on the squad in ground balls with 21. In Hunter's four seasons she has 74 caused turnovers which ranks 14th all-time on the Hilltop.

The Hoyas start postseason action on Thursday, May 2, in the 2013 BIG EAST Women's Championship. The tournament will be held on Georgetown's campus at Multi-Sport Field. Georgetown is the second seed and will face third seed Loyola (Md.).
