WASHINGTON - The Georgetown softball team, led by Head Coach Pat Conlan, opens their 56-game schedule for the 2014 season in 32 days.
Georgetown's schedule includes six tournaments and 14 homes games, four of which come in the form of doubleheaders.
The Hoyas begin the season with four tournaments. The first one being in Ft. Myers, Fla. on Fri., Feb. 7 to Sun., Feb. 9 at the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament where Georgetown will play against Liberty, Ole Miss, Western Kentucky and the host, Florida Gulf Coast. The first game of the season for Georgetown will be against Liberty on Feb. 7 at 12:15 p.m.
The second tournament of the season takes place on the weekend of Feb. 15-16 in Farmville, Va. where the Hoyas will face Bucknell, Saint Joseph's and Longwood.
Georgetown will then travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on Gardner-Webb, UNC-Wilmington, Boston University and Michigan State in the three-day University of South Carolina Tournament from Fri., Feb 21 to Sun., Feb. 23.
The following weekend the Blue & Gray will head to Charlotte, N.C. from Fri., Feb. 28 to Sun., March 2 for the UNC Charlotte Tournament. There the Hoyas will take on Liberty, who Georgetown plays in its season opener, Stony Brook and Charlotte.
Georgetown plays its first home game in between the fourth and fifth tournaments of the season when they host Towson on Tues., March 4 in Washington, D.C. at Guy Mason Field, the site of all 14 home games for the Hoyas.
The Hoyas fly to Southern California for the three-day UCLA/CSUN Tournament from Fri., March 7 to Sun., March 9 to play against Grand Canyon, Oregon State, Cal State Bakersfield and hosts, Cal State Northridge and UCLA. Georgetown will play in Northridge, Calif. on March 7-8 before closing out the tournament with a doubleheader in Los Angeles on March 9.
Georgetown's sixth and final regular season tournament will be played up north in Hempstead, N.Y. at the Hofstra Tournament from Fri., March 14 to Sun., March 16 where the Hoyas will play against Hartford, Fairfield, Columbia and Hofstra.
The Hoyas will then play its second home game on the season against Colgate on Tues., March 18 at 4 p.m. at Guy Mason Field.
Georgetown will then travel to play two three-game road series against BIG EAST opponents Villanova, on March 22-23, and then in Omaha, Neb. to take on Creighton on March 29-30.
The Hoyas then return home for a five game stretch with a doubleheader against Cornell on Tues., April 1. The team will then play a three-game series against BIG EAST opponent St. John's with two games on Sat., April 5 and one game on Sun., April 6.
Georgetown then plays a road games against UMBC in Baltimore, Md. on Wed., April 9 and against Drexel in Philadelphia, Pa. on Thurs., April 10 at 3:30 p.m.
For the weekend of April 12-13, the Blue & Gray then travel to Chicago, Ill. to take on BIG EAST opponent DePaul in a three-game series.
The Hoyas then return home for three games against BIG EAST opponent Butler on Fri., April 18 and Sat., April 19 followed by a game against George Washington on Tues., April 22.
Georgetown plays their final road series on the 2014 season when they travel to Providence, R.I. for three games against BIG EAST opponent Providence on the weekend of April 26-27.
Georgetown closes out their regular season at home with three games against Seton Hall, a doubleheader on Sat., May 3 followed by the noon finale the following day, Sun., May 4.
The BIG EAST Tournament will be held in Chicago from Thurs., May 8 to Sat., May 10.
