Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III

On today's game and what changed in the second half:

"I don't know how many layups we missed. We felt like there weren't that many tactical things that we talked about at halftime. We thought we could continue to get some good shots and hopefully we could start to put them in. We talked about limiting their three's and I don't know that we did a better job with that in second half but that's what we talked about at halftime."

On center Joshua Smith's impact on the game:

"He (Joshua Smith) was a huge impact; people have to pay attention to Josh. He is a very good passer. He can't be stopped down there, except when he stops himself. That opens up easier looks with his cuts, with his drives, his open shots for everyone else. He's a weapon that we have that you have to pay attention to, one man can't guard him. It's a matter of us playing off of that."

On bringing Joshua Smith back in second half:

"It might not have mattered who was in there, I didn't want him to pick up an early third or fourth, so we decided to go with Hop (Mikael Hopkins) to start the half. That decision was made knowing we were going to need Josh down the stretch."

On play styles changing against specific teams:

"It depends on the personnel. At the end of the day it's not the X's and the O's, it's the Billy's and the Joe's. You get good players, you can play multiple styles. I don't know that there is more pressure because of the institution; we try to adjust and adapt to who we have and what the best way is to do it instead of saying `this is what we're going to do.'"

Center Joshua Smith

On today's game:

"We just have to go out and play. After the first half I knew I could play better and try to show my hand as much as I could and show the refs I move my feet just playing defense. The second half was a little different than the first half, we were going to the zone and it was a little easier. The coaches tell us and I do it all the time at practice, just moving my feet."

On playing against smaller guys:

"I believe no matter who is guarding me one-on-one that I can score on them. That's not me being selfish, that's me believing in my team and them putting me in the right position. I love passing as much as I love dunking and scoring. I remember I hit A.B. (Aaron Bowen) in the corner for the three; plays like that get the crowd into it and that's why I really love the offense."

On preparing to play against teams in the Big East:

"A win like this is big for us. Our three loses were close, it came down to the other teams executing better than we did. This was a good game for us. The way Yogi (Kevin Ferrell) hit the two three's and put it into overtime, his reaction, he banked the first one and then the second one you have to give credit to him, for hitting a shot like that. We're ready, we're ready to play the whole Big East and the whole conference and see what goes on, we just need to get ready for a good Xavier team on Tuesday."

Guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera

On playing at Madison Square Garden:

"We relished it. We showed that we could play with the best of them. I love opportunities like that. It was personal, this is back home for me."

More on playing in New York:

"It's big. My freshman year we lost to them (Indiana Hoosiers). Me and coach talked about that all week coming into the game so it's personal for me, Aaron (Bowen) and all the guys involved with that game so we wanted to come out with a win this time."

On playing against Kevin `Yogi' Ferrell:

"There were moments when we both flourished. I've grown up with Yogi since kindergarten, I've known him forever and we've always been great friends. There's always been a rivalry but I'm winning right now."

Forward Aaron Bowen

On career high:

"I played off my energy and the points showed. Encouragement from my team telling me they needed me, I just wanted to bring it to the team."

Indiana Head Coach Tom Crean:

On what went wrong today:

"We play with a lot of freedom and I want that, but we have to continue to make our decision making better. Today, turnovers were as big a part of us losing this game than anything else was. I mean certainly we gave too high of a percentage in the second half, we let D'Vauntes (Smith-Rivera) get far too comfortable shooting the ball, we made some mistakes on the cuts and with Josh Smith, you need to be aware when he's on the left block. He cannot only score it, but he can pass it...Offensively, we want to play with a lot of pace, we just have to understand that simplicity wins."

On Joshua Smith:

"I think when we doubled correctly when we turned him over some and you just can't let him get to his strengths. Obivously he has a lot of strength and he's very left-shouldered centered with what he does to get to his right hand...They did a very good job of utilizing him and at the same time running their offense, but if you let him get to his left shoulder and turn the left side of his body, because of his right hand, he's pretty much a one-handed player, but getting to that left shoulder he's unbelievably hard to guard."

On playing at Madison Square Garden:

"We were honored to be asked. Joel Fisher (Executive Vice President of MSG Sports) called to see if we would be interested, we had a couple different options on teams (opponents) and Georgetown was chosen...Jim Calhoun had 33 guys that played at least five years in the NBA, they made over a billion dollars and the whole deal, and he knew exactly how many games he played in The Garden. He coached 82 times in The Garden. That is one of the great coaches of all time, in my book he's as good as it gets, and he knew exactly how many times he's been in The Garden. I told our team that a couple of times. It doesn't matter what you do in your career, he's coached everywhere, won national championships, when your in a place like this you know it and I think that puts it into perspective."
