WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's track & field team opened the indoor season in similar fashion to the women, with a meet at the Wesley Brown Field House in Annapolis, Md. The men put up a number of impressive performances to start the season at the Navy Invitational on Saturday.

A trio of Hoyas were the first to cross the finish line in the 3,000-meter run with Michael Lederhouse (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West), Cole Williams (San Francisco, Calif./Occidental College) and Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day) finishing first (8:07.62), second (8:08.44) and third (8:08.46), respectively.

All-American Billy Ledder (Washington, D.C./Gonzaga), competing in the 1,500-meter run, was in typical notable form, winning the event with a time of 3:58.87, one of two competitors to break four minutes. Teammate Andrew Ogle (Powell, Tenn./Powell) finished third in the event, clocking 4:01.84.

Charles Cooper (Montreal, Canada/Lower Canada College) managed a second-place performance in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.15, competing in the first track meet of his career on the Hilltop.

The men's 5,000-meter run saw a third-place finish for Connor Sheryak (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier), timing in at 14:47.40.

Tyler Smith (Jeffersonville, Pa./Norristown) doubled up, competing in both the 60- and 200-meter dashes. He turned in a fourth-place performance in the 200m (22.58) and a fifth-place performance in the finals of the 60m (6.98).

In the relays, the Hoyas took the top spot with the A squad in the 4x400-meter relay, timing in at 3:16.46.

The men's and women's teams will return to competition on Saturday, January 10, 2015 with the Father Diamond Invitational, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
