2010-2013 Georgetown Field Hockey National Academic Squad Members 
WASHINGTON - Sixteen Georgetown field hockey players were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad when the awards were announced today, Wed., March 19. Seniors Katie Dempsey (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) and Caitlin Samela (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) both led the Hoyas as three-year honorees.
Juniors Molly Denzel (Sunnyvale, Calif./St. Francis) and Brooke Simone (Radnor, Pa./Baldwin School) each notched a spot on the National Academic team.
Louise Chakejian (Chester Springs, Pa./The Episcopal Academy), Taylor Craig (New Canaan, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall), Callie Hiner (Westport, Conn./Staples) and Meghan Murphy (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) represented the Georgetown sophomore class on the list.
All seven freshmen were named to the squad. The class consists of Aliyah Graves (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg Academy), Devin Holmes (Fleetville, Pa./Wyoming Seminary), Maria McDonald (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh), Rosalie Nolen (West Chester, Pa./Reed Henderson), Rachel Skonecki (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Red Land), Molly Thompson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) and Hailey Vann (Yorktown, Va./Tabb).
In addition, Georgetown was one of 72 teams to earn the NFHCA 2013 Division I National Academic Team Award. Teams must earn a GPA of 3.0 or better in the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year to be recognized.
"I want our student-athletes to be known for their hard work both in the classroom and on the field and to carry themselves with a degree of professionalism that will allow them to excel in life after graduation," said Field Hockey Head Coach Shannon Soares.
