WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field program competed at the Nittany Lion Challenge, held at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track in State College, Pa., on Saturday with a slew of strong performances from the Hoyas. Georgetown tallied five event titles including one meet record. The women are currently ranked No. 10 in the country as of the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computerized rankings system.

Records were set today in the men's 3,000-meter run as All-American Ahmed Bile (Annandale, Va./Annandale) broke the meet record, set just one year ago by fellow Hoya John Murray (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury). Bile edged out teammate and All-American Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day), both officially recording a time of 8:00.25. To the thousandth of a second, Bile timed in at 8:00.243 while Bartelsmeyer recorded a time of 8:00.249. All-American Ryan Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) completed the podium sweep for the Blue & Gray, clocking 8:01.65.

The men's mile saw a trio of Hoyas running together with Michael Lederhouse (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) leading the way for the win, clocking 4:09.83. Scott Carpenter (Lenox, Mass./Lenox Memorial) was just a tenth of a second behind him in second place (4:09.93) followed by Collin Leibold (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg).

All-American Billy Ledder (Washington, D.C./Gonzaga) took first place in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:48.46 while Joe White (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and Cole Williams (San Francisco, Calif./Occidental College) finished third (1:48.71) and fourth (1:49.00), respectively.

All-American Hannah Neczypor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) shaved nearly five seconds off her half mile time from just one week ago, clocking 2:09.01 in the women's 800-meter run. She led a trio of Hoyas for the top three overall and four among the top five in today's race with Jocelyn Hubbard (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield/Northeastern) finishing second (2:09.19), Kennedy Weisner (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk Country Catholic) in third (2:11.02) and Aleta Looker (Ellsworth, Maine/Ellsworth) in fifth (2:13.63).

All-American Sabrina Southerland (New York, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) won the women's 1,000-meter run, doubling her distance from her event from just one week ago, timing in at 2:44.77. The sophomore led a quartet from the Blue & Gray among the top five as Annamarie Maag (Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit Prep) finished second (2:54.37), Autumn Eastman (Hinesburg, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) placed fourth (2:56.19) and Kristen Walsh (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) clocked 2:56.19, good enough for fifth.

In the women's mile, Haley Pierce (Wilmington, Del./Tatnall School) was the top Hoya finisher, timing in at 4:46.79 to lead six GU runners among the top seven. Pierce's time was second to a PSU runner competing on her home track. Piper Donaghu (Portland, Ore./Grant) placed third (4:48.94), followed by Maag in fourth (4:50.64) and Eastman to round out the top five (4:52.38).

Donaghu doubled up on events, finishing third (1:32.63) while Heather Martin (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), also competing in two events on the day, finished fourth (1:33.68), both in the women's 600-meter run.

Carter Taylor (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) finished fifth in the men's 60-meter hurdles, timing in at 8.83.

Richard D'Ambrosio (Collegeville, Pa./Malvern Prep) tied for fourth in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.62m.

Nathaniel Gordon (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg), Ledder, Daniel Anderson (Ozark, Mo./Ozark) and Nick Sullivan (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) finished third in the men's 4x400-meter relay, clocking 3:16.41.
