Jan. 9, 2015 WASHINGTON - Georgetown Field Hockey Head Coach Shannon Soares has announced the dates and opened registration for the 2015 S-Squared Sports All-Access Field Hockey Camp. The summer camp, headed by Soares, begins on Monday, July 27 and concludes on Wednesday, July 29. This is the second year Soares is holding the camp on the Hilltop.
Camp participants will have an all-access pass into stepping up their game and discovering the latest technical and tactical components of field hockey in preparation for their upcoming scholastic season. The camp is open to individuals as well as high school teams. Commuters are also welcome.
Camp will include technical and tactical instruction during the morning and afternoon sessions, with game-play taking place in the evening.
The staff will consist of NCAA Division I collegiate coaches and current Division I student-athletes will serve as counselors.
Overnight campers will be lodged in an on-campus dormitory located in close proximity to Multi-Sport Field where instruction will be taking place.
Soares, who led the field hockey program to its highest number of wins since 2010 in her first season as head coach, will head the camp with assistant coach Shelly Montgomery serving as assistant director. Prior to Georgetown, Soares spent one year as the head coach at VCU and an additional five years as an assistant at the school. As the Rams head coach, she led the team to a 13-5 record after the team finished 5-13 just one year before.
