WASHINGTON, D.C. - Despite rallying to tie the game, the Georgetown University field hockey fell to Temple, 3-1, in BIG EAST Conference play on Friday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Temple jumped on the scoreboard to take a 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the game as Alyssa Delp converted her 10th goal of the season off her own rebound. Georgetown answered with four penalty corners but would not be able to keep the Owls from taking their one-goal advantage into halftime.

The Hoyas tied up the game six minutes into the second half when senior Sarah Butterfield (Bridgewater, N.J. / Oak Knoll), deflected a shot from senior Emily Weinberg (Shaker Heights, Ohio / Hathaway Brown) on a penalty corner. The goal is Butterfield's third of the season. She leads the team with 40 shots.

With the score knotted at one, Georgetown and Temple would battle back-and-fourth until the last four minutes of regulation. At the 66:26 mark, Erin Vanhorn tipped in a pass from Tricia Light at the far post to give Temple a 2-1 lead. Playing against the clock, the Hoyas subbed keeper Rachel Skonecki (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Red Land) with an extra field player to create more opportunities offensively for Georgetown. However, it would be Temple to net the last goal in regulation as Maris Stern drove in a long shot from the top of the circle for a 3-1 Owl victory.

Playing 67 minutes in goal for the Hoyas Skonecki recorded 16 saves for her sixth double-digit performance of the season.

The Hoyas will look to bounce back on Sunday as they face off against Saint Joseph's in a non-conference match up at 2 p.m.
