Dec. 8, 2015 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University Field Hockey Head Coach Shannon Soares has announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Coming to the Hilltop from Illinois, Maryland, New York and Virginia, the four incoming freshmen are Soares' second recruiting class. The newcomers will join 15 returning letterwinners from the 2015 campaign.
"We are excited to officially announce our 2016 recruiting class as they will all contribute significantly toward our upward direction as a program," Soares said. "As a staff, we look forward to helping develop them both on and off the field while they are on the Hilltop."
Michaela Bruno
Garden City, N.Y. | Garden City High School
Bruno was named to the 2015 MAX Field Hockey Northeast Region Players-to-Watch. A senior captain for Garden City High School, Bruno led the Trojans to consecutive New York State Public High School Athletic Association State (NYSPHSAA) Championships and back-to-back Long Island Field Hockey Championships in 2014 and 2015. She was a two-time honoree of the Long Island Field Hockey All-Tournament team. She is also a three-time member of the all-state and all-county teams. She was honored as the Newsday Player of the Week (10/8/15) and finished her senior season as the Nassau County points leader with 23 goals and seven assists. In 2014, Bruno was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region team and the NYSPHSAA All-Tournament team. As a junior, she also was named to the MSG Varsity All-Metro First Team, finished as the Nassau County Conference I points leader (13 g; 13 a), and was selected as the 2014 Newsday Nassau County Player of the Year. She is currently a member of the USA Field Hockey Futures Program (Level 1), having participated in championship games, 2011-14. She also competed in the AAU Junior Olympic games in 2013 and 2014. Bruno will be a two-sport athlete on the Hilltop, also joining the women's lacrosse squad. She plans to major in business while at Georgetown.

Lindsey Getz
Lindsey Getz
Northfield, Ill. | Loyola Academy
Getz was honored as the 2015 Illinois Field Hockey Player of the Year as she set a school record of 30 goals her senior season. The newcomer was also a two-time member of the all-state team and was selected at the offensive MVP in 2014. As a freshman, Getz led the Loyola Ramblers to a second-place state finish in 2012 and a fourth-place finish in 2013 and 2015. She is a three-time member of the all-academic team, four-time member of the Loyola Academy First Honors and was honored as the Loyola Academy Scholar as a sophomore. Getz was also a participant of the Windy City field hockey club team and the USA Hockey Club, where she was selected to play in the 2015 Regional and National Futures Tournaments. She intends to major in nursing while at Georgetown.
"I chose Georgetown because it will provide me with incredible academic opportunities while also allowing me to pursue my passion for field hockey," Getz said. "Georgetown field hockey has fantastic team dynamics and an amazing coaching staff. I am so excited to be a part of the team and to be able to study at one of our country's most prestigious universities."
Ashely Leverrett
Pasadena, Md. | Indian Creek School
Leverrett was honored as the Indian Creek 2015 Most Outstanding Player. She was named to the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) All-Conference Team in 2014 and 2015 and was recognized as the IAAM Player of the Week (10/11/15). As a senior captain, Leverrett registered 22 goals and 16 assists, the most goals and assists recorded in a season at Indian Creek. She also holds the Indian Creek record for career assists at 44 and career points at 91. In 2014, Leverrett was named Anne Arundel All-County, and competed in the Junior Olympics and National Futures Championship. She is also a 2011 National Indoor Tournament Champion. She played eight seasons for the Spark Club and coached for Spark for three seasons. She plans to major in biology with a concentration in Neurobiology.
"I chose Georgetown because of the excellent academics, unique location, and the opportunity to be a part of a team with a culture unlike any other," Leverrett said.
Cameron Rogers
Richmond, Va. | Trinity Episcopal School
Cameron Rogers (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) is a three-year letterwinner, who led the Titans to back-to-back League of Independent Schools (LIS) Championship titles in 2014 and 2015. Rogers also led the Titans to the 2015 VISAA State Championship and was named All-LIS in 2014. She played club with Panther United and competed in the National Futures Championship in 2014 and 2015, and the AAU Junior Olympics in 2014.
"I chose Georgetown because it provides unequaled opportunities in terms of academic rigor, location, and the field hockey program," Rogers said.
