Six Hoyas Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's lacrosse team (7-9, 6-1 BIG EAST) had six players named All-BIG EAST Conference on Wednesday afternoon as the league announced postseason honorees. Three Hoyas earned first team accolades, while three more received second team honors.

The second-seeded Hoyas will travel to Storrs, Conn., for the 2015 BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Championship and face the third-seeded University of Connecticut Huskies on Thursday night in the second game of a doubleheader. Top-seed Florida takes on fourth seed Villanova in the earlier game.

Senior defender Adrianne Devine (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) was a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree. The co-captain has started all 16 games for the Hoyas this season and has an impressive seven goals along with three assists as a defender for 10 points. She had a hat trick in the one-goal victory over UConn in league play. On the defensive side of the ball, Devine is leading the team and ranks 24th in the nation in caused turnovers with 26 to her credit. She is second on the team in draw controls with 24.

Devine earned one Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and a Preseason All-BIG EAST honoree as well as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. This is Devine's second nod to the All-BIG EAST First Team, after earning a spot a season ago.

Senior attacker Caroline Tarzian (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was named First Team All-BIG EAST and is leading the team in points with 35 on 25 goals and 10 assists. She had a hat trick in a loss to Princeton earlier this season. The co-captain has started all 16 games for the Blue & Gray and has 18 draw controls to rank third on the squad. She has also posted 17 ground balls as well as three caused turnovers.

Tarzian earned one nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this season. This is her fourth-career All-BIG EAST honor and her third selection to the first team. She was also a Preseason All-BIG EAST honoree.

Junior midfielder Kristen Bandos (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame of Namur) rounded out the First Team All-BIG EAST honorees. She is ranked second in scoring and leads the Hoyas in goals with 27. Combined with her two assists, Bandos has 29 points on the season. She scored five goals in the victory over Connecticut and posted four in the win over Temple. Bandos also posted a pair of hat tricks and two game-winning goals this season. The midfielder has played in all 16 games with 10 starts and has posted 17 draw controls, 16 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.

Bandos earned one BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week honor this season and also had a nod to the honor roll. This is her first-career postseason honor.

Junior attacker Corinne Etchison (Eldersburg, Md./McDonogh School) was named Second Team All-BIG EAST for the second-consecutive season. Etchison has started in all 16 games this season and is GU's third-leading scorer with 17 goals and nine assists for 26 points. She had a hat trick in a win over George Mason and posted two game winners. The attacker has picked up 19 ground balls and pulled in 13 draw controls on the year.

She was also named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST squad.

Senior defender Megan Marinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport) was selected Second Team All-BIG EAST after starting all 16 games for the Blue & Gray this season. She is second on the squad and ninth in the conference in caused turnovers with 20, as well as second in ground balls with 26. Marinelli has also pulled in 11 draw controls this year.

This is her first BIG EAST honor.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Fisher (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) rounds out Georgetown Second Team All-BIG EAST honorees. She has started all 16 games for the Hoyas this season and posted 730 minutes in the cage with 88 saves. Fisher has a record of 6-9 and a .402 save percentage as well as a 10.76 GAA.

Fisher was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season. This is her first BIG EAST honor.

Second-seeded Georgetown will face the third-seeded University of Connecticut at 7 p.m., on Thursday evening. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network and live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
