April 3, 2015 WASHINGTON - Friday's BIG EAST Conference baseball game between Georgetown and Creighton has been postponed due to inclement weather. The Hoyas and Bluejays will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at Shirley Povich Field.
Because Saturday is Creighton's getaway day, the doubleheader will feature a seven-inning contest in game one, followed by a nine-inning affair.
On Thursday, The Hoyas (13-12, 1-0 BIG EAST) won an exciting 4-3 game over Creighton (15-9, 0-1 BIG EAST) in the BIG EAST opener at Shirley Povich Field. AC Carter (Winter Park, Fla./Orangewood Christian), who finished with three hits in the game, hit a go-ahead, RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning. Chase Bushor (San Diego, Calif./Santa Fe Christian) had a three-run double in the fifth inning, giving him 24 RBI on the season to lead the entire BIG EAST. Simon Mathews (West Haven, Conn./Hopkins School) picked up the win with two innings of relief, giving up one run. David Ellingson (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) picked up his fifth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.
Matt Smith (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) will get the start for the Hoyas in game one on Saturday while Kevin Superko (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley/Phillips Andover) will get the nod in game two.
