WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field team split sites this weekend, competing at the Maryland Kehoe Twilight Meet as well as the prestigious Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. The weekend was highlighted by the new personal records for All-Americans Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy), Cole Williams (San Francisco, Calif./Occidental College) and Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day) in the 1,500-meter event.
At Payton Jordon, Coogan finished third in section one of the women's 1,500-meter run, clocking 4:13.13. She was the top collegiate finisher and the time is the sixth-fastest in Georgetown history, sliding ahead of former Hoya All-American Renee Tomlin (4:13.15), a mark set at the 2011 Mt. SAC Relays.
Also competing on the West Coast, Williams and Bartelsmeyer finished seventh (3:42.05) and eighth (3:43.82), respectively, in the second section of the men's 1,500-meter run. The times were PRs for both with Williams among the top 20 in GU history.
The Hoyas will continue competition on Friday and Saturday, May 8-9, at the BIG EAST Conference Championships, held at the Jumbo Elliott Track at Villanova Field in Villanova, Pa.
