May 8, 2015 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's tennis freshman Peter Beatty (Portland, Ore./Middlesex School) was named to the All-BIG EAST tennis team when awards were announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon. Beatty was one of two freshmen selected to the team of 12 representing six schools.
Beatty posted a record of 13-5 overall and a mark of 8-1 from the No. 4 slot to lead the Hoyas. He also had an overall mark of 6-7 in doubles play, with a record of 5-6 from the No. 1 spot. The freshman went 3-4 when partnered with John Brosens (Bedford, N.Y./Brunswick School).
Beatty posted a four-match win streak from April 11-19 that included victories over Villanova, George Mason, UMBC and George Washington. During the quarterfinals of the 2015 BIG EAST Men's Tennis tournament Beatty had the tying point as the Hoyas came back from being down three to upset the No. 3-seeded DePaul Blue Demons.
The Hoyas concluded their season with a record of 9-10 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
