Oct. 20, 2016 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University junior men's golfer Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) was named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
Madsen led the Hoyas to a second-place finish at the Georgetown Intercollegiate by firing a 9-under par 204 for the 54-hole tournament. The tournament, hosted by Georgetown, took place at Four Streams Golf Club in Beallsville, Md. Madsen finished in second place overall just two strokes behind the winner, Ben Albin of Notre Dame.
The junior shot rounds of even-par 71 and 4-under par 67 during the first day. Madsen went on to tie the competitive course record at Four Stream with a 5-under par 66 in Tuesday's third round.
Georgetown is back on the course on Monday, October 24 at the Homewood Suites FGCU Invite in Fort Myers, Fla.
