Nov. 15, 2016

WASHINGTON - Senior Jared Cooper-Vespa (Orange, Conn./The Hopkins School) and freshman Morgan Conley (Winnetka, Ill./Chatham/New Trier School [N.J.]), of the Georgetown University swimming & diving team have been named the BIG EAST Male and Female Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week. The awards, which were announced by the conference on Monday, recognize Cooper-Vespa's and Conley's efforts against Old Dominion on Saturday.

Cooper-Vespa registered a NCAA-qualifying mark and the top score in the BIG EAST this season, pulling away for a tight win in one-meter diving, scoring a 299.85. The senior also finished third with a score of 291.97 points in the three-meter dive.

Conley delivered a winning performance with a time of 23.95 in the 50-yard freestyle. Breaking the 24-second barrier, Conley ranks second in the BIG EAST in the event. She also swam the anchor leg of the 200-yard medley relay, helping the Hoyas place second.

These are Georgetown's first weekly awards this season and the first time the Hoyas have swept the awards since 2008.

The Hoyas will return to the pool after the Thanksgiving Break, traveling to Lewisburg, Pa., Dec. 2-4, for the Bucknell Invitational.
