Dionna White Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

Feb. 29, 2016

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's basketball freshman guard Dionna White (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after leading the Hoyas (16-12, 9-9 BIG EAST) to a weekend sweep of Butler University and Xavier University.

White averaged 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 4.0 assists in the two games as Georgetown clinched a bye in next weekend's BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2012. After registering 12 points, six rebounds and five steals in a 49-35 win over Butler on Friday, White registered her third double-double of the season on Sunday in a 63-51 defeat of Xavier. She finished with 14 points and tied a career high with 11 rebounds while also contributing six assists and four steals.

For the season, White is leading the Hoyas in scoring with 15.6 ppg and has posted team highs of 6.2 rpg, 4.2 apg and 2.6 spg. She is among the BIG EAST leaders in all four categories, ranking first in steals, fifth in assists, sixth in scoring and 12th in rebounds.

This is White's second nod to the honor roll this season and the eighth of the year for the Hoyas. White has also been selected as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on five occasions.

With Georgetown's two wins, and Villanova's win over Butler on Sunday, the Blue & Gray earned the No. 5 seed at the 2016 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament, presented by the Jeep Brand. The Hoyas will face No. 4 St. John's University in a quarterfinal matchup on Sunday, March 6 at 9:30 p.m. ET at DePaul's McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago.
