The Georgetown University softball team dropped to 5-14 after a pair of losses at the Louisville Slugger Invitational on Friday. The Hoyas tallied eight hits combined in the two contests.

Ohio State 8, Georgetown 4

The Hoyas battled Big Ten opponent Ohio State, run for run, tying the score at three in the fourth inning, but OSU's three-run sixth inning proved to be the difference in the Buckeyes 8-4 triumph.

With Ohio State leading 2-0, Taylor Henry (Front Royal, Va./Skyline) connected on her second double of the season to center field to bring the Hoyas within one run in the second inning.

OSU responded with a run at the top of the third inning, but singles from Grace Appelbe (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) and Olivia Ross (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) drove in two runs in the bottom of the fourth to knot the score at three.

The Blue & Gray limited the Buckeyes to one run through the fifth inning, but three OSU runs in the top of the game, gave Ohio State an advantage of 8-3.

Georgetown worked to rally in the bottom of the sixth, adding one more run, but the Hoya bats would not find momentum, resulting in an 8-4 OSU victory.

The No. 21 Sun Devils erupted for eight runs on seven hits in the fourth inning to claim a 13-0 victory over the Hoyas in five innings.

Georgetown was able to get two hits against ASU as Mallory Belknap (Scottsdale, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) singled to left field in the first inning and Appelbe singled down the right line in the top of the second.

In the circle, Delaney Osterday faced 30 batters.

The Hoyas return to the field against James Madison at 5 p.m. followed by a rematch with ASU at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
