Alex Bernauer Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

May 16, 2016

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University baseball sophomore Alex Bernauer (Sunnyvale, Calif./Fremont) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league on Monday. The honor recognizes Bernauer's performance during GU's four games last week.

Playing in his first three career games in the outfield, Bernauer had multi-hit and multi-RBI performances in all three games he appeared in last week. He finished with a .462 (6-for-13) batting average and seven RBI, a double, triple and a stolen base.

At the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) on Tuesday, Bernauer had two hits, including his first career triple, and two RBI. In Saturday's win over Villanova, Bernauer again had two hits, including a hard-hit double, to go along with two RBI. He added two more hits and a career-high three RBI on Sunday.

This is Bernauer's first career selection to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. He is the ninth Hoya this season to earn the nod and the 13th time this year a member of the Blue & Gray has been on the honor roll.

Georgetown has a bye for the final weekend of BIG EAST play. The Blue & Gray will wait and see if they qualify for the BIG EAST Championships, presented by Jeep, which will be held May 26-29 at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md. The Hoyas need Butler to beat Seton Hall twice when the two teams meet in Indianapolis.
