Aug. 19, 2016

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior forward Aliyah Graves-Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg Academy) was named to the 2016 BIG EAST Field Hockey Preseason All-BIG EAST squad on Friday. It is her first preseason honor. Georgetown will open the 2016 campaign on Friday, August 26 at Davidson College.

Last year she was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection and she was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in 2014. Graves-Brown was the first Hoya in program history to be selected to the BIG EAST First Team.

The forward played in all 19 games last season, starting 18 and led the team in goals with five. Graves-Brown also recorded an assist to give her a team-high 11 points. She rounded out the year on a high note for the Hoyas, as she was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19, after tallying two goals against Villanova, including the golden goal in overtime to give the Hoyas the 2-1 win and their first BIG EAST victory since 2011.

In her career at Georgetown, Graves-Brown has appeared in 55 games and has 11 goals, seven assists and 29 shots to her credit.

The Blue & Gray was selected eighth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll which was also released on Friday.

The Hoyas will begin the season with four road games before debuting on the Hilltop on September 9 against William & Mary.
