Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III

On the feeling after winning the game.
It wouldn't be elation. You lose four in a row, to get one it's a better feeling than the other day. Now we just have to keep improving and move on. You have to grow from every experience, whether it's a loss or a win and there's a lot we can take from this game as we continue to get better and move on here.

On the 19-2 run to start the second half…
I told the guys right after the game that maybe as much as any time this year they listened and executed our defensive game plan. Those guys are good, they shoot 5-30, that's not going to happen that often. They lead our league in three's made and I think a lot of them were, sometimes people just miss, but I think we made them miss. I think overall our defensive execution tonight is moving toward where it needs to be.

On the quick turnaround from Saturday's
Just that, keep your heads up. There's a lot of season to be played and in many areas, we're close. We wanted to have more attention to detail on the defensive end, more communication. You go back and look and there were mixups that shouldn't happen. That didn't happen today. They did a very good job of executing the schemes we wanted defensively. The message overall is, 'Hey, no one's going to feel sorry for you, there's a lot of season to be played so let's improve. Let's do what we need to do. Let's not think about the big picture. Let's just focus on the here and now. Let's focus on this practice, this possession, this half and if we do that right enough, the big picture will take care of itself."

On rebounding and limiting turnovers…
I think it's related to the previous question. The rebounding is part of defense and understanding we have to finish a possession. Our guys were focused today, as a unit, not individually but we were focused as a unit.

On getting to the line…
It hasn't been happening, but I don't think we necessarily changed anything. The last couple of games, tonight included, we ended up with over 40 points in the paint. It's not like we're passing it around the perimeter and taking 3's, maybe guys are just fouling less in the BIG EAST, I'm not sure. We did, we got to the paint, we got fouled. And in the second half we made our foul shots.

On Jagan Mosely
He's been someone I can count on from Day One. He gives 110 percent every practice, every possession and he has a hardness to him. He has to figure out how to make his dunks (laughter), but he plays hard, he plays hard and is a very good teammate.

On off day before playing again…
I think we need a little rest. I think we needed a little rest and it gives us some time to improve on us. Today's Monday and we play Saturday. It gives us time to prepare and heal a little bit.

On bouncing back from 0 points against Butler …
I was just looking for good opportunities to be aggressive within the offense. Just playing with the flow.

Freshman Jagan Mosely

On team's defensive effort …
We wanted to limit them to one shot. We had been struggling with that throughout the season, so we wanted to limit them to one shot and focus on our rebounding, finishing plays.

St. John's Head Coach Chris Mullin

On Georgetown's Defense…
You know it's always a combination, you have to give the defense credit. But at some points we had decent looks and missed some dunks. I actually felt pretty good being down seven after the first half given how we played. But in the second half our energy and effort on both sides were just not there. We have had outings where we've either struggled offensively or defensively but tonight it was both especially in the second half but we just have to move on.

On lack of post scoring…
There's always different ways to approach that. We don't mind dumping it down to collapse the defense. We just need to get some stops and get out in the open floor, where we were struggling we barely had any fast break points and we're pretty fast and athletic. But a combination of lack of energy on defense and shooting 27 percent you're not going to win many games.

On team's reaction to Georgetown defense…
Again when you shoot as poorly as we did you're going to have problems with any defense. We have actually been pretty good against the zone especially with sagging defenses because we shoot the ball pretty well. But a total collapse today.

On playing versus coaching in this rivalry…
I loved playing in it more than coaching. But it's a rich history with a lot of respect. It's a great rivalry and we hope that we can both get back on track at the same time.
