WASHINGTON - Georgetown field hockey (8-9 overall, 1-5 BIG EAST) will play its final two games of the regular season this weekend at Cooper Field. The Hoyas play BIG EAST rival Villanova on Friday at 2 p.m. and then play on Sunday at 1 p.m. against La Salle, where three seniors will be honored. Both games will be available to watch live and with live stats on www.GUHoyas.com.
Freshman Cami Osborne (Newtown, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) currently leads the Hoyas with 10 goals this season, ranking her among the top five scorers in the BIG EAST. Getz is currently ranked eighth in the BIG EAST with eight goals. Junior Katie Maransky (Blue Bell, Pa./Mount Saint Joseph's Academy) leads the Blue & Gray with eight assists and is ranked fifth in the BIG EAST. The Hoyas are ranked second in the nation with most penalty corners per game (9.41), right behind No. 3 Virginia who averages 9.88 per game.
Villanova (6-10 overall, 2-4 BIG EAST) plays its final game of the regular season on Friday after its last three games went into overtime. Last weekend the Wildcats won, 3-2, against Rider in overtime and lost to Old Dominion, 3-2, in double overtime. Senior Francesca Bello leads Villanova with six goals and four assists this season.
The last time that the Hoyas and Wildcats met was during the 2016 campaign when GU lost, 3-2.
La Salle (8-7) and Georgetown will play their final games of the regular season on Sunday. La Salle has lost its last three games to VCU, Richmond and Saint Joseph's, while getting shut out in two of them. Freshman Mackenzie Karcher leads the Explorers with nine goals and two assists this season.
This is the 11th meeting between the Hoyas and the Explorers, with a 5-5 series. The last time that the two teams met, GU lost, 2-0.
