Day 1 Results

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming & diving team completed the first day of the Rutgers Penta Meet on Friday, racing against the host Scarlet Knights as well as Pittsburgh, Seton Hall and Villanova. Competition took place at Rutgers Aquatic Center.

In dual meet scoring, the Hoya men lead Villanova (102.50-83.50), while trailing Seton Hall (96-89) and Pittsburgh (148-38). Georgetown's women hold a 127-59 advantage over Seton Hall (127-59), but are behind Rutgers (121.50-65.50), Villanova (135-51) and Pittsburgh (140.50-45.50).

The GU men were paced by a trio of third-place finishes by Andrew Stange (St. James, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) in the 200-yard freestyle, Drew Carbone (Chelmsford, Mass./Central Catholic) in the 100-yard backstroke and Jack Lynch (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) in the 200-yard butterfly. Lynch raced to a season-best time of 1:53.38. Carbone led the Hoyas to a sweep over BIG EAST rival Seton Hall in the 100-yard backstroke as Henry Hollinshead (Raleigh, N.C./Green Hope) and Edward Spinelli (Brooklyn, N.Y./Polytech Prep Country Day School) also finished ahead of the Pirates.

On the women's side, the Blue & Gray were led by a third-place finish from Molly Fitzpatrick (Manchester, N.H./The Derryfield School) in the 100-yard breaststroke. She touched the wall in 1:05.53 to set a season best. Lauren Henasey (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academic) also raced to a personal best for the season in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 2:05.56.

The Hoyas will be back in the pool on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. as the Rutgers Penta Meet wraps up with 18 more events.
