Hoyas Defeated by Monmouth

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team was defeated by Monmouth by a score of 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue & Gray won a tightly-contested doubles point. The Hoyas won at No. 2 and No. 3. Sophomore Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel High School) and freshman Ian Witmer (North Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School) won at No. 2, 6-1. Senior Yannik Mahlangu (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley High School) and junior Marco Lam (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Boys' School) won at No. 3, 6-1.

Monmouth ran away in singles play registering wins in four of six matches. Junior Mac Rechan (Clayton, Mo./Clayton) won at No. 5, 4-6, 6-2, 10-5. Mahlangu won at No. 6, 6-2, 6-4.

The Hoyas return to action on March 4 when they face off against UC San Diego. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
