WASHINGTON - Georgetown had a chance to take the lead in the final seconds in overtime, but could not convert and the Hoyas had a three-game win streak come to an end in a 68-66 loss to Seton Hall on Saturday at Verizon Center.

The loss drops Georgetown's record to 13-11 overall and 4-7 in the BIG EAST Conference, while Seton Hall improves to 14-8 overall and 4-6 in league play.

Junior guard L.J. Peak (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) scored 18 points, had seven assists and five rebounds to lead the Hoyas, while graduate student guard Rodney Pryor (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep/Robert Morris) added 13 points and five rebounds and junior forward Akoy Agau (Omaha, Neb./Omaha Central/Louisville) had seven points and 11 rebounds to go with a career-high five blocked shots.

Freshman guard Jagan Mosely (Marlboro, N.J./St. Anthony) added seven points, sophomore center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) finished with eight points and two rebounds and sophomore forward Marcus Derrickson (Bowie, Md./Brewster Academy [N.H.]) chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.

The Hoyas took a 64-63 lead in overtime after a free throw from Derrickson, but a basket from Angel Delgado on the ensuing possession gave Seton Hall a 65-64 lead. After a Pryor jumper gave GU a 66-65 lead, Desi Rodriguez hit a layup to give the Pirates a 67-66 advantage. Following a missed 3-point attempt from the Hoyas, SHU's Madison Jones converted the front end of a pair of free throws and a desperation three from Georgetown missed the mark as the buzzer sounded.

Georgetown trailed by five, 59-54, with 7:18 to play, but baskets from Derrickson and Pryor followed by 1-of-2 free throws from Peak tied the game with 4:08 to play. The Hoyas took a 61-59 lead on free throws from Peak with 1:25 remaining, but a layup from Delgado tied the game. After a jumper from Peak with 51 seconds left, Seton Hall's Khadeem Carrington hit a layup with 36 seconds left to tie the game again.

Both teams had chances in the final 30 seconds, but missed shots and the game went to overtime.

The Hoyas trailed by four at the half (36-32) and were down 38-32 after a basket from Seton Hall's Michael Nzei to open the second half. An 8-3 run, capped by a jumper from Pryor, pulled Georgetown to within one, 41-40, with 14:36 to play in the game. The Pirates extended the lead to 47-44 on free throws from Carrington, but a jumper from Govan and a layup from Pryor gave GU a 48-47 lead.

The lead traded hands five times over the next two minutes, with Georgetown holding its last lead, 52-51, after a jumper from Govan with 9:19. Seton Hall countered with an 8-2 run and took a 59-54 lead on a layup from Ismael Sanogo with 7:18 to play.

Georgetown fell behind quickly, missing its first five shots and Seton Hall took advantage, taking a 9-2 lead on a layup from Delgado four minutes into the contest. The lead was 13-2 after a conventional three-point play from Myles Powell and stood at 20-10 after a Powell layup with 10:27 to play.

That is when the Blue & Gray started to connect. A layup from Agau started a 19-6 run over 7:14, capped by a pair of free throws from the junior forward. Six different players scored during the run, with Pryor scoring five points and Akoy, Derrickson and Mosely scoring four points apiece.

It was short-lived lead for the Hoyas, as a 3-pointer from Rodriguez tied the game and started a 10-3 run over the final 2:46 of the half as the Pirates took a 36-32 lead on a Delgado jumper.

Georgetown hits the road on Tuesday, Feb. 7, traveling to play at No. 4/4 Villanova. Tipoff at Dupont Pavillion on the Villanova campus is slated for 7 p.m. The game will be shown live on FS1 and can be heard locally on 106.7 FM The Fan.
