NCAA Indoor Championship Fields Announced, Hoyas Clinch Five Spots

WASHINGTON - The 2017 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships fields were announced today out of Indianapolis and the Georgetown track & field program tallied four spots in individual events as well as one relay entry. The two-day championships will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11 in College Station, Texas. The men's team garnered a trio of individual entries as well as one relay while the women tallied one individual event.

All-American Joe White (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) will compete in the men's 800-meter run for the third-consecutive year. He enters the event with the sixth-fastest time in the country this season, clocking a school-record 1:46.44.

In the men's 3,000-meter run, All-American Scott Carpenter (Lenox, Mass./Lenox Memorial) will compete in the 16-athlete field. He enters the event with the 11th-fastest time among the competitors with a time of 7:51.51. This will be the first NCAA indoor championships for Carpenter.

All-American Jonathan Green (Berlin, Mass./Saint John's School) will compete in his first indoor NCAA championships as he is entered in the 5,000-meter run. His time of 13:45.73 is the 11th-fastest in the field.

Georgetown also picked up a nod in the men's distance medley relay (DMR), running the 12th-fastest time in the field at the Alex Wilson Invitational earlier this season. The foursome of Spencer Brown (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), Kenny Rowe (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield), White and Carpenter clocked 9:31.26.

On the women's side, Kennedy Weisner (St. Marys, Pa./Elk County Catholic) ran a PR 4:37.92 to clock the 16th-fastest time in the women's mile field. This will be the first indoor NCAA championships for the junior.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live on March 10 starting at 6:25 p.m. ET and March 11 starting at 4:55 p.m. ET. A re-air of the championship will take place on Sunday, March 12 starting at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
