WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team travels to the Lone Star State this weekend for the Texas A&M Invite. The team will play five games over the course of three days, starting on Friday, March 3 with a matchup against Prairie View A&M at 10 a.m ET.
The Hoyas will continue play on Friday when they face off against host and No.5 Texas A&M at 5:15 p.m. ET. Saturday's slate of games will include a doubleheader against Texas A&M at 3 p.m. and Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) at 5:15 p.m. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with a rematch against Prairie View A&M at 10 a.m. These games will be the first all-time matchups against all three teams for GU.
The Blue & Gray is coming off a 3-2 weekend at the East Madeira Invite. Sophomore Mallory Belknap (Scottsdale, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) led the team offensively. The lefty had 12 hits and three walks on the way to hitting .588 over the course of five games. She also was key in run production, accounting for four RBI. Belknap's .510 batting average and 24 hits on the season are both team and BIG EAST highs. Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del./Red Lion Christian Academy) supplied much of the power for GU over the weekend. She finished the weekend with two home runs and a double to go along with five RBI. Her two home runs on the season are tied for the team lead along with Sera Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Marian). Anna Brooks Pacha (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) picked up three wins over the weekend to move to 3-3 on the season.
