March 21, 2017 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University baseball junior right-handed pitcher Kevin Superko (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley/Phillips Andover) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The award recognizes Superko's performance at Gardner-Webb on Sunday.
Superko was strong on the mound for the Hoyas, scattering seven hits and two runs, while striking out two and walking none. After giving up single runs in the first and third innings, he allowed just two singles and faced one over the minimum in his final four innings. It was Superko's third-consecutive win, as GU salvaged the series finale with a 4-2 victory, and he lowered his season ERA to 4.86.
This is Superko's second career honor roll selection and the fourth of the season for Georgetown. The Blue & Gray has earned a weekly recognition each week this season, including player of the week awards by Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) and Jake Kuzbel (Ashburn, Va./Stone Ridge) on March 6 and March 13, respectively.
The Hoyas will play their first home game of the season, after 20 games on the road, on Wednesday, March 22, hosting Coppin State at Shirley Povich Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Live stats and a video stream will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
