Hoyas Fall to St. John's

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women’s tennis team was defeated by St. John’s by a score of 4-3 on Friday. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 8-4 on the season while St. John’s improves to 11-3.

The Red Storm got off to a quick start in the match by sweeping the Hoyas in the doubles point.

The Blue & Gray tallied all three of its match points in singles play. Sarah Swift (Vail, Colo./Saint Edward's School) picked up the lone victory via straight sets at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2. GU also picked up wins at No. 4 by Cecilia Lynham (Chevy Chase, Md./Holton Arms School) 6-7 (7), 6-1, 10-8 and by Drew Spinosa (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) at No. 6 by a score of 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.

Georgetown returns to the court on Monday, March 27 when it travels to Fairfax, Va., for a 3:30 p.m. match against George Mason.
