Hoyas Fall to George Mason

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team was defeated by George Mason on Thursday by a score of 4-3. With the loss, the Hoyas fell to 8-7 while George Mason improved to 5-10. The Blue & Gray took the doubles point with wins No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2 Peter Beatty (Portland, Ore./Middlesex School) and Mac Rechan (Clayton, Mo./Clayton) won by a score of 6-3, while at No. 3 Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel High School) and Ian Witmer (North Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School) won 7-5.

GU also picked up two other wins in singles play. Marco Lam (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Boys' School) picked up the win at No. 1 by a score of 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-4. The final win of the day came at No. 4 when Witmer won 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

The Hoyas return to action on Sunday, April 2 when they host Navy for a match at 10 a.m.
