WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team will travel to George Mason on Wednesday for a midweek matchup. The game will be a tune up for the Hoyas as they continue BIG EAST Conference play this weekend at St. John's.

The last matchup between the two teams occurred in 2016 at George Mason. The Hoyas fell by a score of 6-2 but outhit the Patriots 10-9. Theresa Kane (Mystic, Conn./Stonington) and Alessandra Gargicevich-Almeida (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King) each tallied two hits in the losing effort.

Kane was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. She had four hits in two games against DePaul this past weekend and also tallied four hits in a midweek matchup against Virginia. She hit .727 and added five stolen bases over the three-game span.

Mallory Belknap (Scottsdale, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) enters the game as the BIG EAST's leading hitter with 56 hits and a .392 batting average which is good for second. There are three hitters after Belknap that are hitting over .300. Gabriela Elvina (Edison, N.J./Bishop George Ahr) is second with a .349 batting average, Kane is hitting .336 and Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del./Red Lion Christian Academy) is hitting .302. Holiday leads the team with six home runs and 24 RBI. Sarah Bennett (Owings, Md./Northern) is right behind Holiday with five home runs and 23 RBI.
