WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team heads north on Friday to continue BIG EAST Conference play at Seton Hall University. The Hoyas enter the series at 10-21 and 3-3 in BIG EAST Conference play, while the Pirates enter at 16-14-1 and 3-3 in conference play. Saturday will feature a doubleheader beginning at noon and the series will conclude on Sunday with a game starting at noon.

The last matchup between the two teams came last year in a series hosted by Georgetown in which the Hoyas went 1-2. Mallory Belknap (Scottsdale, Ariz./Xavier College Prep), Theresa Kane (Mystic, Conn./Stonington), Sarah Bennett (Owings, Md./Northern) and Gabriela Elvina (Edison, N.J./Bishop George Ahr) all registered multi-hit games.

The Hoyas are coming off a tough midweek loss to Towson by a score of 12-4. Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del./Red Lion Christian Academy) and Sera Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) both picked up an RBI in the loss. Kane joined Stevens in the multi-hit column as both registered two hits.

Belknap enters the weekend as the BIG EAST's leading hitter with 46 hits and a .430 batting average. Kane is riding a nine-game hit streak and her four triples lead the conference as well. There are three hitters after Belknap that are hitting over .300. Kane is second with a .318 batting average, Elvina is hitting .316 and Holiday is hitting .302.

Holiday was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after an impressive offensive weekend against Providence. She had five hits, including three home runs and nine RBI, which was good for a .556 batting average against Providence. Holiday now leads the team with six home runs and is second with 19 RBI. Bennett is second on the team with five home runs and is the team-leader with 20 RBI. Anna Brooks Pacha (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) enters the weekend with a conference-leading 122 strikeouts.
