May 12, 2017 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's tennis junior Peter Beatty (Portland, Ore./Middlesex School) was named All-BIG EAST Conference by the league office on Friday. This is his second-career postseason honor.
Beatty went 14-19 this season, going 6-12 at No. 1 and 2-1 at No. 2. He finished the season winning four of his final five matches including two at the BIG EAST Championship. He battled in a three-set triumph against Aviv Ben Shabat of Butler 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals.
In doubles play, Beatty was 13-12 with a record of 5-6 at No. 1 and 1-3 at No. 2. With partner Mac Rechan (Clayton, Mo./Clayton), the team was 3-4 at No. 1 and he went 2-2 at No. 1 with Jordan Portner (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Saint Joseph).
The Georgetown men's team concluded the season 8-14 overall and upset second-seeded St. John's in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship.
