May 22, 2017 WASHINGTON - Daniel Anderson (Ozark, Mo./Ozark), a graduate who was a four-year member of Georgetown University's track & field program, was the recipient of the Thomas Francis Graham Award, presented by the Georgetown College. Additionally, Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day), a graduate and four-year member of the track & field / cross country program, was the recipient of the Stephanie Waterman Medal, presented by the School of Foreign Service.
The Thomas Francis Graham Award was founded by the Graham Family in memory of their father Thomas Francis Graham (C'1949). The honor of this award is bestowed upon a graduating senior of the College who has demonstrated throughout his or her college career concern for others, academic achievement, sportsmanship as a member of an intercollegiate team and dedication to the educational and spiritual goals of Georgetown University.
Anderson, who has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team each year of his career, was twice named an All-BIG EAST performer. During both the 2014 and 2015 outdoor seasons, Anderson earned All-BIG EAST honors in the men's 4x400-meter relay, running the third leg on the championship 2015 team. The award was the appropriate coda to Anderson's four years on the Hilltop.
The Stephanie Waterman Medal is named in memory of a student in the School of Foreign Service who was captain of the varsity tennis team and who died in Sengal in 1985. The medal is awarded to the outstanding scholar-athlete of the graduating class.
In four years, Bartelsmeyer is a four-time All-American, is a four-time BIG EAST champion, is part of the school record foursome in the indoor distance medley relay (DMR) and is a BIG EAST meet record holder in the indoor DMR. He has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team each year of his tenure and will continue his campaign for the Blue & Gray as he competes at the 2017 NCAA Track & Field Championships ââ'¬" East Preliminary in the 1,500-meter run later this week.
