Hoyas Host Temple and LIU Brooklyn This Weekend

WASHINGTON - After playing the past three games on the road, the Georgetown field hockey team (5-5, 0-2 BIG EAST) will return to Cooper Field for a pair of matches this weekend. On Friday, the Hoyas will face off against Temple University (3-6, 0-2 BIG EAST) at 2 p.m. and then play LIU Brooklyn (0-9) on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be available to watch via livestream and through live stats at www.GUHoyas.com.

Last weekend, Georgetown lost to Old Dominion in BIG EAST play, 6-2, and to Longwood University, 4-1. Freshman Cami Osborne (Newtown Square, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) currently leads Georgetown with six goals while Katie Maransky (Blue Bell, Pa./Mount Saint Joseph's Academy), Helena Masiello (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) and Jax van der Veen (Exton, Pa./The Agnes Irwin School) all lead the Hoyas with four assists each.

Both the Blue & Gray and the Temple Owls are looking for their first BIG EAST win of the season. Temple is coming into the weekend 1-1, with a loss to No. 1 UConn but winning against Sacred Heart in overtime last Sunday. They have two other wins for the season against Kent State and Holy Cross, who the Hoyas beat 4-3.

Senior Rachael Mueller leads the Owls with five goals and four assists. The last time Georgetown and Temple met was during the 2016 campaign when the Hoyas lost 4-1.

LIU Brooklyn is looking for their first win of the season this weekend. The Blackbirds have scored four goals in nine games that this season. They have not scored more than one goal in a game yet and three out of the four goals come from freshman midfielder Jenna Chrabolowski. Last weekend, LIU Brooklyn lost to Towson and Virginia Commonwealth University. Sunday's match will be the first time that the Hoyas and the Blackbirds meet in program history.

The Hoyas will host Liberty next weekend at Cooper Field at 2 p.m. which will be available to watch via livestream and through live stats at www.GUHoyas.com.
