WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's rowing team competed in three events on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Head of the Schuylkill (HOSR). Both the Women's Championship Eights race and the Women's Club Championship Eights featured two Georgetown boats in the 2.5 mile long course.
The Women's Championship Eights hosted a field of 20 boats on Saturday afternoon. The lighweight eights squad placed ahead of the openweight eights to take third place with a time of 13:46.703. The openweight boat finished just 10 seconds later for eighth place.
The Women's Club Championship Eights hosted a larger field of 50 boats, also including two Hoya boats. The lightweight JV8+ boat crossed the finish line with a time of 14:19.795 capturing sixth place while the openweight JV8+ squad finished in 27th place.
The final GU race of the HOSR featured the openweight 4- competing against three other teams. The Hoyas took home second place in the Women's Championship Quads, finishing 11 seconds off the leader for a time of 14:48.831.
Following Saturday's race in Philadelphia, the Hoyas will close out their fall season in Fairfax Station, Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Head of the Occoquan.
