WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team released its 2019 schedule, as announced by Head Coach
Kevin Warne on Thursday. The Hoyas host a slate that features eight home games at Cooper Field and three contests against teams that made the 2018 NCAA Championships.
Two home exhibition games, against local foes Maryland and UMBC, serve as the Blue & Gray's final tuneups before the season opener against Sacred Heart on February 9 at Cooper Field. The opener is the first of three-straight home games as Georgetown hosts Robert Morris on February 16 and Towson on February 23.
Following the opening homestand, the Hoyas hit the road for back-to-back games against Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Maryland on February 26 and at Hofstra, Warne's alma mater, in Hempstead, New York on March 2.
Splitting its games at home and on the road for Spring Break, GU welcomes Furman to the Nation's Capital on March 5 before facing Fairfield in Connecticut on March 9. The Hoyas are then back at Cooper Field for home games against Drexel on March 16 and Marquette on March 23 for the BIG EAST opener.
Georgetown then has back-to-back road BIG EAST showdowns, taking on Denver in Colorado on March 30 and Providence in Rhode Island on April 6. The Hoyas close out the three-game road trek with a nonconference battle with rival Loyola in Baltimore.
Two of GU's final three games are at home, beginning with a Sunday contest against Villanova on April 14. The Blue & Gray then closes out the nonconference portion of its schedule at NJIT in Newark, New Jersey on April 20 before hosting St. John's on April 27 in the regular season finale for Senior Day.
Georgetown went 12-5 last season and is coming off its first BIG EAST Championship in program history. The Hoyas return 32 letterwinners from last year.
