Bartelsmeyer Runs Second-Fastest Mile in Georgetown History

Feb. 10, 2018

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field program had a strong close to a pair of two-day meets. As the Hoyas split sites with both squads traveling to the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, as well as the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, the Blue & Gray managed a multitude of strong times, highlighted by Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day) running the second-fastest mile in Georgetown history in Beantown today.

"Georgetown had another great day on the track," Director of Track & Field / Cross Country Julie Culley said. "Amos ran an incredible race in Boston and all of his hard work going back to the summer and through cross country is really showing this season on the track. We had a lot of top performances, including Piper in the mile, nearly three seconds better than her previous personal best. Meredith Rizzo was within a second of her PB and Jack in the mile as well. Rey ran consistent with where he was just a week ago when he ran his PR. It's great to see these athletes having so much success as we get closer to the postseason portion of the season."
