WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's lacrosse junior midfielder Francesca Whitehurst (Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country School) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Tuesday when the league announced its weekly awards.

Whitehurst led the Hoyas to an 18-15 win over visiting Saint Joseph's on Saturday with a hat trick, nine draw controls and a ground ball.

The midfielder was named an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American Honorable Mention and also a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team for the second-consecutive season. Whitehurst was also voted a 2018 team captain.

This is Whitehurst's first weekly award this season and the fourth nod to the honor roll of her career. It is also the first weekly award of the 2018 campaign for the Blue & Gray.

The Hoyas will head out on the road on Saturday as the squad plays at Towson. The opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m., and live stats as well as a webcast will be available through www.GUHoyas.com.
