WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team defeated Boston University on Saturday evening in Annapolis, Maryland, 4-2. The Hoyas improve to 4-5 this season while the Terriers fall to 7-9.
GU won all three of its matches in doubles. Seniors Peter Beatty (Portland, Ore./Middlesex School) and Mac Rechan (Clayton, Mo./Clayton) dominated Satyajit Simhadri and J.P. Avila, 6-1. Additionally, sophomore Ian Witmer (North Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School) and junior Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) defeated Owen Lu and Ethan Kolsky, 7-5, as did senior Marco Lam (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Boys' School) and freshman Charlie Sharton (Wayland, Mass./Wayland), who knocked off David Bogatin and Pedro Gutierrez, 5-4.
In singles, freshman Connor Lee (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) downed Bogatin, 7-6, 7-5. Chen had another victory against BU in his singles match against Gutierrez, 6-4, 6-2, as well as Lam who defeated Marc Sable, 6-2, 7-5.
The Blue & Gray will be back in action on Saturday, March 31, to take on Navy in Annapolis, Maryland.
