March 30, 2018

WASHINGTON - The No. 24/RV Georgetown University women's lacrosse team will return to BIG EAST Conference play on Saturday traveling to the University of Cincinnati for a noon matchup with the Bearcats. The Hoyas are currently 5-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.

On Wednesday, GU fell, 17-5, to the No. 2/3 University of Maryland Terrapins in a nonconference battle at the Maryland Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Sophomore midfielder Natalie Lynch (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) led the way with a pair of goals and an assist for three points for the Blue & Gray. Junior attacker Taylor Gebhardt (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), sophomore attacker Emily Ehle (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and junior attacker Morgan Ryan (Maplewood, N.J./Oak Knoll School) each managed a goal.

The Hoyas were outshot, 37-16, and pulled in seven draw controls to Maryland's 17. Georgetown committed 14 turnovers while forcing nine from the Terps. Junior goalkeeper Haelle Chomo (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) had five saves, while sophomore Micheline DiNardo (Rye, N.Y./Rye) managed four saves in the cage.

Gebhardt and Ehle lead the offense with 28 points apiece. Gebhardt has tallied a team-high 25 goals with three assists, while Ehle has 11 goals and a squad-best 17 assists on the year. They are followed by sophomore attacker Michaela Bruno (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) who is third with 20 goals along with five assists for 25 points.

Sophomore midfielder Natalie Lynch (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) has 13 goals and six assists for 19 points, while senior midfielder Hannah Seibel (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) rounds out the top five with 17 points on 13 goals and four assists.

In goal, Chomo has played a majority of the minutes with 70 saves on the season.

The Bearcats are off to a 6-3 start, meaning UC needs just one more win to tie its season record for wins in a campaign. The team is 0-2 in BIG EAST Conference play with losses to Marquette and Temple. Monica Borzillo leads the way with 25 goals and 18 assists for 43 points, while McKenna Rushford is right behind her with 29 goals and 13 assists for 42 points.

The Hoyas are 9-0 all-time against the Bearcats, meeting every season since 2009. GU is also 4-0 on the road at Cincinnati. Last year, GU managed the 19-7 victory at Cooper Field as Gebhardt posted five goals herself. In the last meeting in Ohio, the Hoyas won, 10-5, during the 2016 season.
