Swimming & Diving Adds Six to Women's Program

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Swimming & Diving Head Coach Jack Leavitt has announced the addition of six incoming freshmen to the women's program. The six student-athletes, who hail from four different states, will join the Blue & Gray this fall as members of Georgetown's Class of 2022.

"We are so excited to bring this class to the Hilltop," Leavitt said. "They are going to bring so much to our team and the Georgetown community, even beyond their swimming ability. This group personifies the type of people that we want representing Georgetown swimming & diving."

Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport

Four-year member of the Fairport High School swimming & diving team, serving as a team captain her senior year ... Was twice named the Monroe County Division 1 Swimmer of the Year and a four-time All-Greater Rochester Athlete selection ... Helped lead Fairpoint to two division championships ... Holds the school record in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard medley relay ... Placed second in the 100-backstroke and the 200-yard IM at Section V Championships ... Placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle at the New York State Meet ... Also swam for the Fairport Area Swim Team for four years, holding the club records in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke and all relay events ... Won the 50-yard backstroke and placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke at ISCA Junior Championship Cup, and finished 10th in the 100 back at the Futures Championships ... In the classroom, was a two-time Scholastic All-American.

Four-year member of the Greenwich High School swimming & diving team, serving as a team captain her senior year ... Helped lead Greenwich to three-straight Connecticut State Open Championships (2015-17) and four-consecutive Class LL Championships (2014-17) ... Named an All-American and set school and state records in the 400-yard freestyle relay, winning both the 2017 LL Championships and Connecticut State Open Championships ...Holds the school record and placed second at the 2017 LL Championships and Connecticut State Open Championships in the 200-yard freestyle ... Also swam for the Chelsea Piers Athletic Club, helping win back-to-back Short Course Speedo Sectional Ithaca Championships (2017-18) ... Outside of the pool, was a member of the National Honors Society.

Four-year member of the Saint Ignatius College Prep swimming & diving team, serving as a team captain her senior year ... Broke four Saint Ignatius records in her career ... Also swam for the Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club for four years, winning the Senior State Championship in 2016 and took third in 2017 ... In the classroom, earned honors with distinction all four years.

Was also a member of the cross country, soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball teams ... Also swam for the La Mirada Armada Swim Club, winning the 1,500-yard freestyle at the Speedo Futures Championship.

Three-time All-American in the 400-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay ... Holds the school record in the 50-yard freestyle and the Jamaican National Girls 50-meter butterfly record for ages 15-17 ... Also competed on the track, water polo and field hockey teams ... Served as a field hockey team captain and helped the water polo team place second in the New England Prep School Championships ... Also swam for the Westchester Aquatics Club ... Was a five-time New York State Championship qualifier and finalist ... Was a three-time top-10 finalist in the 100-yard butterfly ... Holds the school record in the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard medley relay and the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. Holds the Nassau County Record in the 200 freestyle relay ... The GU women finished second at the 2018 BIG EAST Championships for the fifth-consecutive season, while the men placed third. Over the four-day meet, the Hoyas set a total of 13 new school records and won six gold medals. Freshman Drew Carbone (Chelmsford, Mass./Central Catholic) was named the championship's Most Outstanding Male Swimmer and Elizabeth Miller (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) earned the championship's Most Outstanding Women's Diver honor. The Hoyas had a program-record 22 student-athletes selected to the All-BIG EAST Team, including a conference-high 13 women.
