Swad Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Selection

May 14, 2018

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University baseball senior pitcher Jimmy Swad (Washington, D.C./St. Albans) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office on Monday. The award recognizes Swad's efforts in Georgetown's five games last week in which the Hoyas went 3-2.

Swad made three appearances, recording all three saves in Georgetown's 3-2 week while not allowing a run and just one hit in 3.1 innings pitched. On Wednesday, he recorded the final two outs of GU's 7-5 win in the first game of a doubleheader against Maryland Eastern Shore before coming back on in the nightcap to pitch the final inning in a 7-6 victory, recording his second save of the day. In Sunday's series finale at Butler, Swad set Georgetown's single season record with his 12th save of the year, going 1.2 innings to lock up GU's 5-3 win.

This is the first honor roll nod for Swad this season, and the second of his career. He was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on April 9 after he picked up two wins in relief in a pair of extra-inning victories over Xavier. Overall, this is GU's eighth honor roll selection this season.

The Hoyas will return home for their final four home games of the regular season. They will host UMBC on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., before welcoming Seton Hall to Shirley Povich Field for a three-game set. The series will be played Thursday, Friday and Saturday as it is the final BIG EAST series. Friday's 4 p.m. game will serve as GU's Senior Day game with a pregame ceremony honoring the senior class.
